Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
