Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will return for the new Hunger Games film, Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
A Major Return to Panem
The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Industry whispers indicate their cameos will take the form of a brief glimpse ahead, considering the main film series concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This represents the sixth cinematic outing in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed the majority of the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's narrative are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
The supporting roles feature several notable actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes is cast as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.
What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule
Separately, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
